The Watson Twins On Fire Tour In 2009

The Watson Twins, Chandra and Leigh Watson, have announced a tour in 2009 to promote their full length debut album ‘Fire Songs.’ The identical twins kick start their tour on Feb. 16 in Omaha, NE, and make a total of 16 stops before wrapping up at the Workplay Theatre in Birmingham, AL, on March 6. The tour visits a number of cities across the US and Canada including Minneapolis, MN; Cleveland, OH; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA and Louisville, KY.

What To Do If You’re A Victim Of Domestic Violence

The issue of domestic violence was pushed into the spotlight this weekend when reports emerged that singer Chris Brown was allegedly involved in a physical confrontation with girlfriend Rihanna. While police are not identifying Rihanna as the woman injured in the incident that occurred on Sunday morning, TMZ has reportedly confirmed that the the 20-year-old singer was the victim in the case and that she identified Brown, 19, as her attacker.

Rihanna Reportedly The Victim In Chris Brown Case

The allegations against singer Chris Brown took an even more serious turn Monday (February 9) when TMZ reported that the victim in the case was the 19-year-old singer’s longtime girlfriend, Rihanna. The Los Angeles Times and Us Weekly have also reported that Rihanna was the victim.

Additionally, though police are not revealing the victim’s name because the alleged incident involves domestic violence, TMZ claimed the crime report was made in Rihanna’s birth name, Robyn Fenty.

Although TMZ initially reported that a deadly weapon was involved in the case, it later retracted that claim.

It seems strangely appropriate that this album should be coming out this year — which also heralds the 50th birthday of Motown Records — because if anyone has taken on the mantle of soul singer extraordinaire for the 21st century, then it’s the phenomenal Ruthie Foster – something that was, not coincidentally, the title of her last album.

Foster has been kicking up a storm in her home state of Texas for a fair wee while now, with her winning combination of soul, classic R’n'B, and folk and blues.

Lightning Seeds announce comeback album image
The Lightning Seeds are set to release their first new album in nearly a decade later in 2009. The band’s spokesperson said in a statement that the band’s first album since 1999′s ‘Tilt’ would be released in June – although further details have not been revealed. Since the band’s last release, frontman Ian Broudie has released solo albums and has worked in his other role as a producer, helming records by bands including fellow Scousers The Coral.

Spotify to add ‘over a million’ new songs

Spotify to add ‘over a million’ new songs image
Chiefs at Spotify, the music streaming service that allows users to listen to music free, generating money from advertising, have announced that they will add “over one million” new songs to their library after signing a deal with independent music distributer CD Baby. The deal will mean that songs by artists who have had material distributed by the company, including Regina Spektor, Gary Jules and Jack Johnson, will be available to listen to on the service.

Coldplay announce North American tour

Coldplay announce North American tour image
Coldplay have announced the initial dates of a summer tour of the US and Canada, kicking off July 10 in Portland, OR. The band are performing at the Grammy Awards this Sunday (February 8), and are nominated for seven awards including Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Album Of The Year and Best Rock Album for �Viva La Vida’. Music Review: Justice – A Cross the Universe (CD/DVD)

If your rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, like mine, can only be lived vicariously, the Justice documentary A Cross the Universe packs in a few years’ worth. Despite the fact the documentary’s subjects, Frenchmen Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, don’t play rock ‘n’ roll at all, at least not in the traditional sense.

Whether their brand of banging electronic house music is “the new rock ‘n’ roll,” as one fan proclaims, I’ll defer to others.

Music Review: The Byrds – (Untitled)

The Byrds received a publicity form from the Columbia Label asking for the title of their new album. Since the group had not decided upon one producer Terry Melcher simple wrote untitled and there you have it.

(Untitled) was issued September 16, 1970 and was the only double album released during the group’s lifetime. It consisted of one live and one studio disc and proved to be a commercial success.

The live disc consisted of seven tracks with four being reworked from some of their classic hits.
