Best Album Reissues of 2008 (Vinyl Version)

As a follow-up to the CD Edition of my favorite 2008 reissues, here are my Vinyl LP choices:

1. The Kinks - Muswell Hillbillies
Limited Edition, 180 Gram Vinyl.

Ray Davies is certainly not like everybody else here, nor is he a dedicated follower of fashion: “I’m a 20th Century Man but I don’t want to be here,” he angrily seethes.

Ashlee Simpson, Pete Wentz, Clay Aiken, Jamie Lynn Spears And Other Surprising New Parents of 2008

Celebrities had children on the brain in 2008. Baby bumps were everywhere, and Hollywood is starting to resemble a playpen.

There were plenty of stars who didn’t shock us too much when we found out they were in the family way. Christina Aguilera and hubby Jordan Bratman had baby Max. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony had twins they named after the kids on “Dragon Tales.” Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale welcomed Zuma Nesta Rock.

‘The Hills’ Season Five: Who Will Be Back In Lauren’s World When The Show Continues?

Season four of “The Hills” came to an end Monday night, and at finale party in New York, the cast wasn’t sure if they’d be back for more drama. They didn’t even seem to know there would be a fifth season until Lauren Conrad blurted out at the end of the “After Show”: “But, there are more episodes. ‘The Hills’ is not done!”

“If there is one, [I’ll be there]. MTV still hasn’t confirmed,” Stephanie Pratt told MTV News on the red carpet, adding that she would love to date more if the show returns.

Best Songs of 2008: Raconteurs, Black Keys, Bittersweets, Dave Carter, Jon Foreman, Glen Phillips, B.B. King, Oasis, Ryan Adams, Phil Keaggy

With thanks to the late Layne Staley I try not to plan the funeral before the body has died but there's only one Tuesday left in 2008 and there's nothing I'm in a hurry to go out and buy. Three years down the road I may come across a 2008 album I missed and want to amend this list, but for now, for better and worse these are my Top Songs of 2008.

The best thing about this list is no song from my Album of the Year appears on it.

Best Music of 2008: The Bunneh3000 Edition

Best Music of 2008: The Bunneh3000 Edition image
Ah yes…the end of the year and critics, award shows, and news people galore are all chipping in to remind you of the best moments and memories that will forever be the personality of 2008. For me personally, this was an epic year in music for the mere fact that my taste buds were exposed to a plethora of new rock music thanks to the wicked invention of Rock Band (both 1 and 2). I developed a love for artists like Interpol, The Donnas, Paramore, Coheed and Cambria, Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, Metallica, and Disturbed.

Mavis Staples, along with her father and sisters (Cleotha, Pervis, and Yvonne), was a member of the legendary Staple Singers from 1948-1994. She has also enjoyed a respected solo career. Her father, “Pops” Staples was a friend of Martin Luther King, and she has been active in the civil rights movement for four decades.

Music Review: Cheap Trick - BUDOKAN!: 30th Anniversary Edition (1 DVD/3 CDs)

Cheap Trick, an American rock band from Rockford, Illinois, officially formed in 1974 with Rick Nielson on guitar, Tom Petersson on Bass, Bun E. Carlos on Drums, and Robin Zander on Vocals. They spent the next few years primarily touring the Wisconsin and Northern Illinois/Chicago areas and recording a pair of well reviewed, but low selling albums.

In 1978 the band released their third album; Heaven Tonight, which contained the song “Surrender.” This was the band’s first song to make the Billboard singles chart, peaking at #62.

The Duke Spirit wrapped up their US tour with a sold-out show at the Roxy in Los Angeles on Friday night (December 19) as a member of The Rolling Stones looked on. The London band gave a rousing performance that focused primarily on their most recent album ‘Neptune’ for an adoring crowd that included The Rolling Stones’ bassist Ronnie Wood accompanied by an entourage.
