International News: Ministry of Sound launch DJ academy
If the launch of the Ministry of Sound fragrance was a bit too out there for you perhaps this will be a little more in line with what you’ve come to expect from the longstanding dance brand; their own DJ academy. Based in their London nightclub, the course gives budding professionals the chance to see inside and behind the scenes the four DJ booths, as well as sessions with tutors like Danny Rampling, Ray Keith and Jazzy M.
The one day course culminates with you getting to have a spin behind the 1s and 2s on Ministry of Sound’s main dancefloor (presumably to an empty club… unless you’ve got your own rent-a-crowd on hand). “With the legendary venue, top DJ Tutor’s and a programme of tuition designed to get you mixing on the Ministry of Sound systems by the end of the day,” the website extols. “It promises to be a truly unforgettable DJ Experience.”
It all sounds like a right laugh and would no doubt be a fun experience for bedroom DJs, but where it’s likely to fall over is the price tag… call us cheapskates, but £349 (AU $815) for a one day course seems a little steep! There’s an introductory offer at the moment for £299 (AU $700), so get in quick if you’re a Londoner with cash to burn.
